A report created by the NHS has found that almost half of all UK adults are quietly suffering with some form of chronic pain. Sometimes chronic pain can be due to undiagnosed or incurable issues, old age or from long-standing injuries. In some cases, it is extremely hard to pin-point the source of chronic pain or how it came about in the first place. Therefore, one of the ways forward is through alternative forms of treatment or changing your current lifestyle. Here at Brighton Wellbeing, we’re experts in helping our clients manage chronic pain.
At Brighton Wellbeing, we provide a bespoke service whereby we don’t just focus on bodywork, but also provide expert advice on your health, wellbeing and active mindfulness; all of which can aid in the dealing of chronic pain.
Many people don’t realise it, but your diet can contribute to issues such as chronic pain. A diet that is high in products that contain a lot of trans fats, refined sugars and processed foods can have a detrimental effect upon how you cope with this issue. These foods are often high in inflammatory contents, therefore can add to the pain that you might feel. It is important to take a well-rounded approach to your health and wellbeing, which is why we recommend that you come in for a consultation before your treatment begins, to ensure that not only we can help, but so that we can provide you with tips and tricks to help you in your day to day life.
DAY TO DAY
Sometimes, when we suffer from issues such as chronic pain we often bat the issues away. However, if you go about your daily life, without taking consideration of this issue, it can sometimes make the symptoms worse. For example, some of the daily changes that you can make to facilitate this sort of pain is taking several trips to unload your shopping, instead or trying to carry it all in one. Or, for example, don’t entertain household jobs which require a lot of standing up or bending over; tasks such as gardening. These small changes can have a positive effect on how you cope with chronic pain.
Another example of a small change, is in the case of smoking. It’s a hard one to kick, but very important if you want relief from chronic pain. It has been documented time and time again that Nicotine, not only aggravates pain further, but can postpone healing altogether.
Here at Brighton Wellbeing, we provide a bespoke service, wherein we believe that “one size doesn’t fit all” when it comes to our treatment plans. We work with you, integrating a multitude of different therapies to help relieve the symptoms of chronic pain. One of the ways in which we provide this service is through examples such as deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and the use of our scenar device; all fully dependent on your requirements and needs.
We always want to make sure that you are following the treatment plan and advice given from your doctor. When you come to Brighton Wellbeing, we start all of our treatments with an in depth consultation, so we can provide you with help that is in line with what you need to aid the symptoms of chronic pain.
